The Polytechnic emerged champions in a pool game while MPS were runners-up.

Said Professor Mtenje, “The games have achieved the intended purpose which was to make friendships among UMSSA members, its affiliates as well as the hosts”.
In his speech before the award presentation ceremony, Commissioner of Police Willie Mwaluka who spoke on behalf of the Inspector General Dr. Lesten Kachama, said UMSSA has demonstrated that Malawi Police is a good venue for sports by virtue of successfully holding the games at Area 30, the Police Headquarters.
Mwaluka assured UMSSA members that the Inspector General of Police Dr. Lesten Kachama will not hesitate to accept hosting similar events in future.
Participants in the two-day intercollege games are Chancellor College, College of Medicine, Kamuzu College of Nursing, The Polytechnic, Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) and the hosts, Malawi Police Service.
UMSSA games are held annually partly as a preparation for the Southern African University Staff Sports Association (SSAUSA) games which normally take place in early December every year. Republic of Zimbabwe will host the 2018 SSAUSA games in December.
